Pleasures: Women Write Erotica

Pleasures wasn't that pleasurable
While I did enjoy some of the stories that this book offered, overall it didn't contain anything new or stimulating. Some of the stories were poorly written and others didn't even seem to belong in this book. Next time, I'll be a little more choosy before purchasing a book of this nature.

Wonderful Book - Buy It!
This is a wonderfully sexy book that is perfect to read with a partner! I bought it for a long car trip I took with my girlfriend. While she was driving I read some of the stories to her and she loved it not just because it totally turned her on but because she thought it was very sweet and romantic that I would read to her these stories. Also, wow that turned out to be one hell of a hot car ride - amazing we didn't have an accident (you have NO idea!) Guys, you have to try this. You will LOVE the rewards! (I hope you guys print this w/o my email address in here because you're not getting it. No way. Too shy.)

Garfield Is A Great Cat With A Belly Full Of Laughs!
Back in color again. Garfield, Odie, Jon, Liz, Nermal, Lyman, are all back again to serve out a bunch of laughs in thier comic strips from Sunday, bigger, bolder, and in color. This book has all sorts of things going on in Garfield's cat life. He gets nailed to the cieling for a practical joke he played on Jon, and other funny things. The colors in this book are bold, bright, and beautiful, showcasing Garfield nicely.

This is a good book. Only problem, this is where the logos started being cut out. Still a good buy.

Great Book!
I think that you should buy Garfield Tresurey because it is full of laughs. It is realy great book and I think the revewer will love this hilarius book.

50 Ways to Please Your Lover: While You Please Yourself

This book offers couples a chance to "cut loose"!
I really enjoyed reading all the different scenarios and suggestions the author had to offer. I have actually "performed" a few of the tidbits and had a blast doing it. My husband enjoyed it as well. It opened up my sexuality gate and let me enjoy myself without feeling weird or nasty. Some of the stories, although maybe a bit over the edge, were great to read outloud! Nothing like a little erotica to get things going. I would recommend this read for those who are looking to try something new and different or put a spin on what they already are enjoying.

The Cat and the Human Imagination: Feline Images from Bast to Garfield
Published in Hardcover by University of Michigan Press (April, 1998)
Author: Katharine M. Rogers
Average review score:

Broad ranging, entertaining, work by a scholarly cat admirer
The comprehensive scope and depth of Rogers' work reflects her long standing personal regard for and civilized society's varied view of the domestic cat over the centuries. Rogers' earlier studies of women in literature are woven into this work in insightful but possibly controversial ways which challenge and interest the reader. There are dozens of references to art and literature that provoke one's interest in learning more, and do not bore the reader. This is a work for adults, a gem that anyone at all interested in the societal history of the domestic cat will admire and return to.

Creating a Technologically Literate Classroom: A Professional's Guide
Published in Paperback by Teacher Created Materials (01 March, 1996)
Authors: Garf, Gary Garfield, and Suzanne McDonough
Average review score:

A great primer for the technologically challenged educator.
Garfield & McDonough make no bones about the importance of technology in the classroom. "We will be straightforward--no sidetracking or hedging. Every classroom should have several contemporary computers, CD-ROM players, a camcorder, a videotape player and recorder, a videodisc player, and one digital camera. It is time that teachers are allowed to attend to their "business" of educating students in a professional manner with the tools necessary to be successful. Anything less is unacceptable." Their goal in getting the classroom onto the information superhighway is to have every child attend a school that knows no bounds to the learning experience. Technology, properly incorporated into the curriculum, say the authors, will make the school "a wonderful place, and learning can seem like magic."

As a resource for understanding the basic terminology and issues associated with bringing technology to the classroom, this is a good first b! ook. It is written in an engaging, reader-friendly format that appeals to busy teachers. The book contains 76 well-written pages that an educator could easily use as blueprints to kick start a technology-augmented curriculum.

The book is written around three subject groups. Chapters one through four offer an overview of technology terms, a philosophy of the relationship between schools and technology, the changing role of the teacher and learner, and the effect of technology on today's curriculum. The fourth chapter even offers up a tasty selection of simple lesson plans so the tech-challenged teachers among us can safely whet our appetites. Once hooked, the reader is given some ideas and suggestions for laying out classrooms that would be the envy of a Hollywood movie director, assigning student and work groups to lessons, and that all-important question: How in the world are we going to divide 30 students among 3 computers? The last third of the book looks at the practica! l online applications of cyberspace, reviews the multimedia! equipment no self respecting classroom should be without, and some basic steps educators can take to build a comprehensive school or district technology program.

In summary, Creating a Technologically Literate Classroom is a terrific primer for the technologically challenged educator. The book is well researched and offers in the back a comprehensive resource list for further inquiry. Both new and experienced educators can benefit from the practical suggestions. There are even a few ready-to-use forms in the book. This is one teacher resource that you can read in a day and use right away!

EASILY GARFIELDS BEST
THIS OF COURSE WAS THE SOURCE FOR THE CHARLES BRONSON MOVIE,BUT ITS A LITTLE MORE LIBERAL ,WITHOUT THE GLORIFICATION OF VIOLENCE.I READ AN INTERVIEW WITH GARFIELD ONCE,AND HE SAID THE IDEA FOR THIS CAME FROM THE TIME HE RETURNED TO HIS CAR FROM DINNER LATE ONE NIGHT AND FOUND THAT SOMEONE HAD SLASHED THE VINYL TOP.....HIS FIRST THOUGHT WAS''ID LIKE TO KILL WHOEVER DID THIS!''....THEN HE THOUGHT,''IMAGINE IF SOMEONE ACTUALLY DID THAT?''WELL,MOST PEOPLE WOULDNT GO AS FAR AS THE MAIN CHARACTER HERE,AND WE'RE NOT SURE WHAT MAKES HIM GO OVER THE EDGE.....BUT HE CANT COPE WITH THE LOSS....AND SO THE TALE OF REVENGE BEGINS......THE ENDING IS DIFFERENT,AND READERS HOPING FOR THE ALMOST SADISTIC VIOLENCE OF THE FILM WILL BE DISAPPOINTED HERE BY THE LIBERAL APPROACH GIVEN THE SUBJECT MATTER........GARFIELD WROTE A SEQUEL TO THIS A FEW YEARS LATER TITLED''DEATH SENTENCE''......BUT WASNT NEARLY AS GOOD AS THIS.......GARFIELD IS AN EXCELLENT WRITER WHO IS ALMOST FORGOTTEN TODAY......BUT HE WROTE MANY GOOD BOOKS[MY NEXT FAVORITE WOULD BE ''NECESSITY'', WITH ''''RECOIL'' AND'''TERRY CONNISTON?'',NOT FAR BEHIND].........I BELIEVE ALL HIS BOOKS ARE NOW OUT OF PRINT,BUT IF YOU CAN GET USED COPIES,I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND ALL OF THEM.......

Expensive, but a lot of useful information
A CD-Rom jammed with articles from EXECUTIVE EXCELLENCE. I actually got my copy as a bonus for subscribing a couple of years ago. Many of the articles are interesting, but they are all quite short, almost MTV-ish. This seems to be the preferred style for this publication. If you are a fan of Warren Bennis, or one of the writers who regularly contribute to that publication, this is a good way to pick up some new material from your favored writer. The articles are on a variety of topics, which means that there will probably be something for everyone with an interest in this subject, but by the same token, there will be a lot that won't interest you. The CD includes a search engine that is workable. I benefitted from the magazine and the CD, but they didn't set my world on fire.

The Fallen: A Photographic Journey Through the War Cemeteries and Memorials of the Great War, 1914-18
Published in Hardcover by Pen & Sword (March, 1997)
Author: John Garfield
Average review score:

Poignant photography
This book consists primarily of photographs taken by an English doctor from 1975 to 1990 at and near war cemeteries and memorials related to World War One. There is a good text, which gives the background for the events which led to the cemeteries and memorials depicted. The photos are sobering, and if you are a student of photography would be of great interest. I sometimes thought the photos were designed more to show off the photographer's skill than to depict what was to be seen--which I confess is what I was looking for in the book, since I have never seen on the ground the awesome sights related to the First World War, and I suppose I never will. I did not appreciate this book as much as I did a book by Rose E. B. Coombs: Before Endeavours Fade: A Guide to Battlefields of the First World War, which I read on 4 May 1991 and which I thought was almost as worthwhile as going to France to see the sites discussed for myself. Garfield's book has many poignant quotes, but unfortunately does not have a bibliography of any kind.

Flaming hearts and other stories
Published in Unknown Binding by National Book Development Council of Jamaica ()
Author: Garfield Ellis
Average review score:

A slice of Jamaican reality
Ellis' dialogue authentically captures the 'voice' of a wide range of Jamaicans. His poignant stories are populated with sympathetic characters who try to make sense of the often complex class structure and gender relationships of the island. I ached for the young woman who struggles with class prejudice in her confused search for emotional fulfilment. I rooted for the physically challenged school boy trying to achieve a difficult goal, and the gradual suffocation of a young, ambitious girl by her jealous boyfriend in 'Rain' angered me because it reflected a too-often observed reality so well. These stories caused me to think as well as feel, and as a Jamaican, some of the issues hit close to home. An outstanding first collection.
